December 2024 Newsletter

2024 is ending in 4 weeks. As this year is coming to a close, I am using the following framework to help me pause to reflect, celebrate successes, focus to finish this year strong, and envision what can be in the new year.

1.     Reflection

Before rushing to plan for the new year. It is important for me to reflect on how I have done what I have planned to accomplish.
If I have unfinished goals, is there time to complete. Identify what I could learn from this year.

2.     Celebration
List all the accomplishments including those that were added on the goals list throughout the year. If you have not been keeping track, take a moment to write them out.

I’d then decide how I would like to celebrate my accomplishments. It’s not necessary something big, it could be taking some time off to attend a LIVE performance, for example.

3.     Envision

2025 is around the corner.
Instead of rushing to have all my goals for the new year set. I’d like to take this time to set a high-level vision.
First, I would like to see if there’s unfinished goal I need to bring forward. Second, I would like to set one goal relate to my business, one goal that is personal, and one stretch goal that looks ridiculous.
As they are high-level goals at this point, they will require refinement over the next few weeks.
Remember, it’s okay to adapt and adjust as new circumstances arise.

Hope this framework can help guide you to set up for success in the new year!

Personal Note:

In mid November to early December, I have been travelling to Asia and visiting my birthplace, Hong Kong, spending time with my mom, relatives, and friends.

The trip has given me a chance to slow down, reflect on what I have done well this year, and what I can do better in 2025. It is a great reminder that having a break will not slow us down, but rather, it allows our minds to rest and rejuvenate, gain clarity of what we want to achieve and move forward.
Fun fact:

In May this year, I was writing my chapter in the book “Evolution of Leadership in STEM” at my birthplace, Hong Kong. This week, while being in Hong Kong, I’m anticipating the launch of the book, and it will be shared to the world on December 10th, while I’ll be in-flight, flying back to Canada to receive my own copy.
The experience of becoming an author this year reminds me that,  if there is a will, there is a way. Embrace change and say “Yes” will open more opportunities ahead!

I'm so proud to be one of the authors in the book,

Evolution of Leadership In STEM.

The official launch is December 10th, 2024—don't miss your copy and free gifts!
