1) What is Coaching and how it is different from therapy, consulting, and mentoring?

Coaching - ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The coaching process can help you improve your outlook on work and life, while improving your leadership skills and unlocking your potential. In coaching you—the client—are the expert. Your coach’s role is to ask powerful questions, act as a sounding board, provide objective assessment and observations, listen fully and actively, challenge your blind spots, and foster shifts in thinking that reveal fresh perspectives.

Therapy focuses of healing pain, past experience that hamper an individual’s emotional functioning in the present.

Consulting provides expert advice and prescribes and sometimes implements solutions.

Mentoring provides guidance from one’s own experience or sharing experience in specific area of industry or career development, Mentors shows his or her mentee their solutions to the problems/challenge.

2) What can I expect from a coaching session?

During each coaching session, coachee will decide what the goal of the session be, the coach will partner with the coachee on the journey to create actionable outcome towards achieving the goal through deep and meaningful conversations.

3) What if I am not sure if coaching is right for me?

4) Do I have follow-up to do between sessions?

Each Coaching session should result in actionable outcome that coachee decided on before the next session. Those actions are steps to achieve the overall goal at the end of the entire coaching engagement.

5) What if I don’t think it is working for me after a couple of sessions?

Both the Coachee and Coach can decide if the coaching relationship is not developing as expected can initiate the termination of the coaching engagement according to the terms and conditions signed in the coaching agreement.
